Reiki self-taught without an actual instructor, without spending thousands of dollars – that was my aim when I began my quest for Reiki supremacy. I am a holistic healer and a master at acupuncture and massage therapy. Both holistic practices are a more physical approach to treating the human body and what ails it. Reiki on the other hand is a more non-contact oriented energy transference based approach. I took up Reiki Infinite Healer as a means of understanding the concept and if possible implementing it in my daily business. Yes, my reasons for learning Reiki were purely commercial at first. Below is my review of Reiki Infinite Healer, and how I incorporated it's teachings into my business.
The Basics
As with acupuncture and massage therapy there was once a pioneer who discovered Reiki or rather set it to stone. This was Dr. Mikao Usui and until I discovered Reiki Infinite Healer, I always thought this teachings were long lost. As it turns out many Reiki masters over time had only diluted his practices and made it harder to achieve mastery for obvious reasons. Dave, the author of this three part book set does away with modern Reiki teachings and practices concentrating rather on the exact way Dr. Usui managed to master the art of Reiki and that is what you get from the book.
How I Learnt
As I had done with acupuncture previously, I began my journey through the realm of Reiki one step at a time. First taking the time to understand what ideology governed it. Then trying to replicate the methods practiced by the forefathers of Reiki and finally after getting comfortable enough, practicing in accordance with my holistic approaches and its unlimited requirements.
Dave made the process easy by breaking everything down into three parts and as you finish each part you gain invaluable insight into the art and the life of its founding father. By the end of the first part I knew how I could eventually help my customers with varying problems, integrating it into massage therapy. In fact, I discovered that many things that are curable through massage therapy can also be achieved using Reiki albeit at a more holistic level. So if massage therapy were the temporary solution, a more permanent one would be Reiki.
How I Merged The Three Arts
Reiki Infinite Healer discusses self-healing in great depth so as to discover exactly how to efficiently target energy centers of the body also known as chakras. In Acupuncture, we target specific nerves and nerve bundles to achieve a holistic healing, and in massage therapy it is muscular stimulation that helps reduce aches and pains. Reiki I believe on a personal note, allowed me to give my customers a longer lasting relief than ever before. Now when someone comes in with a shoulder pain, I either use acupuncture or massage therapy as the first course of correction followed by Reiki to ensure the pain dissipates away for a long time. In fact, it is mostly those with chronic ailments that say they benefited the most from my Reiki healing.
I have finished the Reiki Infinite Healer course in a little over 3 months and in the time, thanks to my other educations, I have learnt to respect the world of holistic medicine a lot more. Together Reiki, acupuncture and massage therapy have allowed me to cover a wide variety of ailments and using the knowledge gained from Reiki, I now decide on a two-pronged course or treatment for my patients. Yes, it has opened up new avenues of income and helped me garner more customers but it has also helped me appreciate life and holistic approaches a lot more than ever before.
